Laura Zera’s writing can be found in the New York Times, the Washington Post, DAME Magazine, Quartz, Catapult, Full Grown People, Bustle, xoJane and others, and she is a regular contributor to the Seattle Times. Laura Zera recently completed a memoir and is at work on a novel set in South Africa.
Originally from Vancouver, B.C., Laura has traveled to more than 65 countries, and lived and worked in Cameroon, Israel and South Africa. She currently resides in Seattle with her husband, photographer Francis Zera.
Bio – General
Laura Zera is a writer, speaker, facilitator and consultant. She previously worked in project management for Fortune 500 companies Fujitsu and Alcatel-Lucent, as well as for the internationally renowned Grameen Foundation, where she piloted a telecommunications/ microenterprise project in Cameroon. Laura has been invited to speak by a number of organizations, including The Art Institute of Seattle and Simon Fraser University, and her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, DAME Magazine, Quartz, Catapult, Bustle and xoJane, among others. She is a regular contributor to the Seattle Times.
Laura recently completed a memoir about her life as a competitive figure skater with a mother who had undiagnosed psychosis. She is working on a novel.
