The Neediest Tissue Box in Ho Chi Minh City (and other photos)

By Laura Zera 14 Comments

Another selection of photos from my recent trip to Vietnam; this time, some of my favorites of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). With a population of about 8 million, there is almost one motorbike for every second person, and the “moto life” is a culture all unto itself. Also interesting was the Reunification Palace, where visitors step into a time machine and travel back to see exactly what this perfectly preserved place looked like on the day Saigon fell, back in 1975.

There’s that joyous spirit of yours, open and wondering through every new adventure!

I hope you brought that package of tissues home with you :))

Brilliant collection of photos, Laura, thanks for sharing. And what a relief to see that bit of green space to help offset all those motos!

Thanks, Debbie. And there was more green space than I expected, so that was a good thing. When I get round to posting photos of Hanoi, I’ll have some of a really lovely park there, too.

Great pics, Laura! Although I shudder to think what the RTA stats are in that city *shivers*

Thanks, Chris! RTA stats? Is that road traffic accidents? Everyone is going so slow that an accident is just a bump, usually.

Hope you’re having the kind of holiday season you most yearn for.

Hi Jagoda! Thank you, and I hope the same for you. I also hope to see you soon; it feels like it’s been too long.

Haha… “Like a gang, but not.” I think those were exactly my words when in Key West years ago and the rental moped peeps like to buzz around beeping their tiny and very annoying horns. I actually witnessed a horn-blowing and vroom-off between a bunch of mopeds and Harleys. The Harleys won 🙂

“The Harleys won.” That is awesome. As they should. Mopeds are like pesky flies to them.
