We’re pulling from the travel photo time capsule this week, and visiting Turkey. But remind me which century we’re in?
Photo date: October, 2011
Looks like: 1926
Location: Bosphorus Ferry, Istanbul
Nationality of subject: If he’s not British, I’ll do 50 somersaults in a row
He used to have a thing for: Margaret Thatcher
This fellow likes: potatoes au gratin. And whisky, served neat.
His wife’s name is: Edna
He gets annoyed with her if: she forgets to put fresh towels out in the bathroom,
and: does the crossword puzzle in pen
When no one is looking, he: lets his spaniel lick him on the face
His name is: _____________ (this one is for you to fill in below in the comments)
Photo taken by: Francis Zera
I’m thinking his name is Rupert! He and Edna would make quite a pair 🙂
What a timeless photo….good job!
~Kathy
I like it! We just don’t have enough Ruperts in North America. Thanks, Kathy, I’ll pass on your compliment to my photographer hubby. 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a real-life monocle-wearing man. Since he has a British vibe, I’m going to deem him an Arthur.
I hadn’t either, up until that point! It’s funny, whenever I think of Arthur, I think of bald/balding for some reason.
Cuthbert Wilberforce-Smythe III
Nice! I especially like the “IIII.”
Fantastic photo! He’s the vision of a regular traveller on the Orient Express.
I had fun trying to figure out names. Great idea Laura!
Interestingly, I followed through and did a search on each of the names I imagined and they are real people. !
Nigel Hamilton-Browne
Nigel Wyndham
Simon Erskin-Locke
Edwin Grimsby – although his search came up with the name Arthur Edwin Bacon from Grimsby
I wanted to include a Percival or Bustopher but I got a little spooked and stopped there.
Love Francis’s little insert in the lower left corner too.
Oh, wow, seriously? That’s crazy! And “Bustopher” — LOL!
Yeah, Francis wants to be a space man. 🙂
Sir Zachabody Dagblatt III
I can’t wait until you get a dog.
Major (retired) Harvey Wickam probably looks like he could use an Earl Gray with 2 lumps and cream.
Okay I came up with my own name before reading the others. I’m especially drawn to Cuthbert and Bustopher.
Ha! These are all so great. I’m enjoying this! And he’s definitely a big tea drinker. 😉
His name is Winston Churchill! 🙂 I love the picture. Makes me want to wake him up, give him a hug and then drink Whiskey with him!
Hi Natalia, thanks for stopping by! You’re so right, he does have a ministerial air about him, and a resemblance to old Winston.
Herman Cocksney
Okay, that just made me laugh out loud.
Fabulous photo! Rutherford Dabney Slouchums. He’s an excellent fellow!
LOVE IT. You get double points for coming up with “Dabney.” 😉
